U.S. Open - Finished third at the September U.S. Open, his fourth top-10 in 11 starts at the event. Marked his best result in a major since the 2017 PGA Championship (T2). Zurich Classic of New Orleans - With partner Charl Schwartzel, lost in a playoff to the team of Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Represented his ninth runner-up on TOUR and first since the 2019 Valspar Championship (T2). PGA Championship - Finished T2 at the PGA Championship, his fifth runner-up in his 49th major championship appearance. Held a share of the lead after the second round, the fourth 36-hole lead/co-lead of his PGA TOUR career (fell to 1-for-4). U.S. Open - Held a share of the 54-hole lead at the U.S. Open in June before finishing solo-second, his second consecutive runner-up in a major championship and sixth of his career. Fell to 1-for-6 converting 54-hole leads/co-leads in majors to victory. Marked his third consecutive top-10 at the U.S. Open. The Open Championship - Held the outright lead after each of the first three rounds of The Open Championship before finishing T3, his third consecutive top-three result in major championships. Fell to 1-for-7 converting the 54-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA TOUR and 1-for-4 in majors. Personal


  • Comes from a strong tennis family with his father and brother both playing.
  • A member of the Ernie Els Foundation in South Africa from 2000-02. The Ernie Els Foundation benefits families of limited resources and provides educational assistance and playing opportunities in order to produce successful young leaders and develop their playing ability to its full potential. "Getting into golf is very expensive. My dad is a farmer, and in the early years things weren't going that great on the farm. But when I was 17, I managed to become a member of Ernie's Foundation in South Africa and it was unbelievable what he did for me, helping with expenses and things like that."
  • In 2009, founded the Louis 57 Academy at Mossel Bay Golf Club, part of the golf development program serving underprivileged children in the Mossel Bay Community in South Africa. Mossel Bay was site of his round of 57 during his amateur career on December 12, 2002.
