With victories at THE CJ CUP in South Carolina and the Genesis Scottish Open, became the 28th player in PGA TOUR history to reach 24 career wins on the PGA TOUR. Successfully defended his title at THE CJ CUP in his season debut, becoming the second reigning FedExCup Champion to win in his season debut (first since Tiger Woods won the 2008 Farmers Insurance Open) and the first player to win in back-to-back starts since Tony Finau in 2021-22. Returned to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking on October 23 after winning THE CJ CUP in South Carolina and held the position for 16 consecutive weeks (through the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am).

Moved to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the ninth time in his career and first since July 2020. Marked his second successful title defense on TOUR and first since the 2022 RBC Canadian Open. Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard - Finished T2 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his sixth career top-10 at the event. World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play - Defeated Scottie Scheffler in the Consolation Match, 2 and 1, to finish third at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Reached the Semifinals for the fourth time in his career and first since 2016. Advanced from group play with a 3-0-0 record with victories over Scott Stallings, Denny McCarthy and Keegan Bradley before defeating Lucas Herbert and Xander Schauffele en route to the Consolation Match. PGA Championship - Finished T7 at the PGA Championship, his eighth career top-10 at the event and best result since winning in 2014. the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday - Held a share of the lead entering the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and went on to finish T7. RBC Canadian Open - Finished T9 as the two-time defending champion at the RBC Canadian Open. U.S. Open - Finished solo-second at the U.S. Open, recording his 10th career runner-up on TOUR and third in a major championship. Genesis Scottish Open - Won the Genesis Scottish Open by one stroke over Robert MacIntyre, earning his 24th career PGA TOUR title and second of the season. Victory came in his 234th start at the age of 34 years, 2 months, 12 days. Became the first player to win the Genesis Scottish Open, the Horizon Irish Open and The Open Championship. Improved to 11-for-19 with the 54-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR. Birdied Nos. 17 and 18 in the final round to win by one stroke; the only other player to birdie each of those two holes in a round was Scottie Scheffler in the third round. The Open Championship - Finished T6 at The Open Championship, his seventh top-10 in 14 starts at the event. FedEx St. Jude Championship - Carded a final-round 65 to finish T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. BMW Championship - Held a share of the first-round lead at the BMW Championship and went on to finish solo-fourth. - Grew up in Holywood, Northern Ireland, as the only child of parents Rosie and Gerry.
- Signed a National Letter of Intent to play college golf at East Tennessee State University but decided to continue playing amateur golf in Europe until turning professional in 2007.
- Earned an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2012 at the age of 22 for his services to sport.
- Welcomed first child, daughter Poppy, with wife Erica in August 2020.
